A 1/2-inch shackle with a 3-ton working load limit. Shackles are the link between sling and pick point in almost every rigging application — steel to sling, sling to truss, plate to motor — and 1/2-inch at 3 tons is the general-purpose size most production shops buy by the case. Working load limit is the figure to rig to, not the break strength. Check that the body and pin still carry a legible rating stamp before every use, and pull anything bent or damaged out of service.
