A Theatre Series steel base plate, 36 by 36 inches, with a 9mm thick top plate and two welded 1-1/2 inch schedule 40 flanges. Two flanges means the plate carries two pipe uprights rather than one, which is how you build a boom pair or a wider-stance ladder structure off a single footprint. The 36-inch square is the largest of the common base plate sizes and gives the most resistance to tipping. Optional casters are available for crews that need to reposition plates between scene changes rather than carry them.
