A heavy steel base plate with a 48 by 48 inch footprint, a 9 mm top plate and a 2-inch raised frame, fitted with one welded 1-1/2 inch schedule 40 flange. The flange accepts a schedule 40 pipe upright directly, so this plate is the base for pipe-and-drape uprights, lighting stands and camera or scenic posts rather than for bolted box truss. The 48-inch square footprint and steel construction give the bearing area and dead weight to stand tall uprights without guy lines. The raised frame leaves clearance for cable to pass beneath the plate.
