The RPM89L is the long shotgun microphone cartridge assembly that replaces the cartridge on Shure VP89 microphones, supplied without a preamplifier. The long cartridge gives an extremely narrow pickup angle and strong off-axis rejection for targeting a source at distance, as used at sporting events, in electronic news gathering, wildlife work, and field recording. Fit it to a VP89 preamplifier body.
